Welcome to Wesley United Methodist Church

About Us

After looking us over here, come join us at 21 E Franklin Avenue in the heart of downtown Naperville, Illinois

For any service, you may enter through the red doors on Center Street, or through the Atrium on our north side.  Parking is available both in the Atrium lot, or on the streets, including Center to the East and Franklin Avenue on the South.  (If you're a first-timer, it's easier to find your way using the first two options.)

Wesley is handicapped accessible; designated parking spaces for those with plates or hangtags are in the Atrium (North) lot, and the Atrium provides easy access to our elevator, which serves all of Wesley.

Our Sunday Schedule

9:00 am  Sunday School Classes for all ages.

10:00 am  Blended Worship followed by a time of fellowship, coffee, juice, and connecting.

CHILDCARE  Children are always welcome at Wesley UMC, but, for your convenience, our nursery is located on the main level in Room 11.  There, you will find trained staff who love to read stories, play games, and rock sleepy babies.  The nursery is available from 8:00 am to 11:30 am for infants and children who are not yet in school full-time.

What We Believe

We believe in:

Proclaimng God's grace through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Nurturing spiritual growth throughout life.

Serving God by caring for all people.

We try to live into the challenge of John Wesley, who said:

"Do all the good you can.  By all the means you can.  In all the ways you can.  In all the places you can.  At all the times you can.  To all the people you can.  For as long as ever you can."

As much as we love our time together on Sunday, we believe that our highest ministry is out in the world.

This is why the last words in every Sunday's church bulletin are,  "Our Worship Has Ended ~ Let Our Service Begin."

God, as known to us in Jesus Christ, welcomes all.

So do we.

All peope of any race, ethnic identity, gender, sexual orientation,

age, ability, economic status, or life situation are welcome here.

To this end, Wesley is a Reconciling Congregation.  Here's the website for Reconciling Ministries, to which we proudly belong.

Questions We Hear Alot

What kind of worship do you have?

Wesley has what's called 'blended' worship.  There's always some centering silence, an eclectic blend of great music, a thought-provoking sermon, and time to share our joys and concerns together.  We are a diverse bunch, and our worship reflects that; we don't divide ourselves up by age, or musical tastes.  Wesley is one community of faith- devoted to Jesus Christ, service, and one another.

What about Sunday School?

We have Sunday school classes for all ages.  Adult classes and classes for kids and youth are offered at the 9:00 am hour.

Are children welcome in worship?

Yes!  Children are always welcome in worship; and don't worry if they voice their questions and squirm a little; the curiosity and the wiggle add to our worship together.  Parents are also welcome to bring their younger children to the nursery during worship or Sunday School, where they may leave their child in the caring hands of our trained staff.
